Báguena, San Martín del Río, Fuentes Claras, Caminreal, San Agustín, Albentosa and La Puebla de Valverde will host seven conferences open to the public between 11 and 19 September

VALENCIA / TERUEL, September 11, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Way of the Holy Grail once again puts the spotlight on the territory of Teruel with a programme of cultural events that will tour seven municipalities in the province of Teruel between 11 and 19 September.

The Cultural Association 'The Way of the Holy Grail' organizes this cycle of conferences in Báguena, San Martín del Río, Fuentes Claras, Caminreal, San Agustín, Albentosa and La Puebla de Valverde, towns linked to the route of The Way of the Holy Grail.

The activity is subsidized by the Government of Aragon, under Order ECD/500/2026, within the Cultural Network in Aragon, and has the collaboration of the seven participating municipalities.

Under a common approach – "The Way of the Holy Grail and its passage through [municipality]" – the different sessions will bring the population closer to the knowledge of the itinerary and will allow it to be put in dialogue with the historical and cultural heritage of each locality.

Seven towns to get to know El Camino from the territory itself

The programme will begin on Friday, September 11, at 6:00 p.m., in Báguena.
On Saturday 12 there will be three matches: San Martín del Río, at 10:00 a.m.; Fuentes Claras, at 1:00 p.m.; and Caminreal, at 5:00 p.m.
On Sunday, September 13, it will continue in San Agustín, at 1:00 p.m., and later in Albentosa, at 5:00 p.m.

The cycle will conclude on Saturday, September 19, at 5:00 p.m., in La Puebla de Valverde.
The lectures will be given by Joaquín Poquet, from ArtCare Consulting, and will address the historical and monumental heritage of the different localities – churches, castles, hermitages, bridges or archaeological sites, as appropriate in each municipality – within the territorial context through which 'The Way of the Holy Grail' runs.

This approach makes it possible to distinguish between the historically documented heritage of each locality and the cultural interpretation linked to the itinerary, avoiding attributing specific historical relationships when these are not documented.

Aragon, fundamental territory of The Way of the Holy Grail
The programme also offers an opportunity to bring citizens closer to the role that Aragon plays within the historical and territorial narrative of The Way of the Holy Grail.

The historical tradition linked to the Holy Chalice that is currently kept in the Cathedral of Valencia places a fundamental part of its history in Aragonese territory, particularly in Huesca and in the Pyrenees, before its subsequent arrival in Valencia, where there is documentary evidence of his deposit in the Cathedral since 1437.

Based on this legacy, the Cultural Association 'El Camino del Santo Grial' has been working since its constitution in 2002 in the creation, consolidation and dissemination of a land route that connects the Monastery of San Juan de la Peña with the Cathedral of Valencia, crossing numerous Aragonese municipalities.

The September conferences aim to contribute not only to disseminate El Camino, but also to value the cultural heritage of the small towns through which it runs, reinforcing knowledge of the cultural resources existing in the territory itself.

Culture, knowledge and territorial structuring
The holding of seven meetings in as many municipalities allows cultural activity to be transferred directly to the territory and to bring knowledge of the itinerary closer to its inhabitants.

The cycle is based on an essential idea: The Camino cannot be understood only as a line on a map, but through the villages, landscapes, heritage and communities that give it continuity.

In this way, each conference offers a local reading within a broader territorial project and allows the inhabitants to know what it means to be part of The Way of the Holy Grail and what are the heritage elements that make their municipality unique.

The initiative is part of the Cultural Network in Aragon and is subsidized by the Government of Aragon by virtue of Order ECD/500/2026, aimed at the development of cultural activities in the territory.

From Aragon to a European dimension
The work carried out on the historical and cultural route also has an international projection.
Together with the work carried out by the Cultural Association in the territory, the International Association Cultural Route The Way of the Holy Grail in Europe works on the European dimension of the project and on the process aimed at presenting The Way of the Holy Grail as a candidate for Cultural Route of the Council of Europe.

This perspective allows us to situate the municipalities through which the route passes within a cultural narrative of greater scope, in which local heritage is an essential piece.

The cycle that is now taking place in Teruel starts precisely from that scale: first getting to know the territory, documenting it, disseminating it and making the local population participate in its heritage and its belonging to the Camino.

More than two decades working for El Camino
The Cultural Association The Way of the Holy Grail (CIF G97195713) was established in 2002 with the aim of creating and consolidating the land route between the Monastery of San Juan de la Peña and the Cathedral of Valencia, disseminating the history linked to the Holy Chalice and contributing to the maintenance and knowledge of the Way itself.

Among its tasks and aims is also the management and dissemination of the official pilgrimage credential of The Way of the Holy Grail, currently in its fourth edition and of which, according to the data provided by the Association itself, more than 31,000 accumulated units have been produced.

With the new programme of cultural initiatives in Teruel, the entity continues a line of work that links research, dissemination, heritage, territory and local participation, placing the municipalities as protagonists of the cultural construction of the itinerary.
