Houston, Texas – Rob Carty, a partner at Suits & Boots Injury Lawyers, has again been included in the Irish Legal 100. The annual list recognizes lawyers, judges and legal scholars of Irish heritage practicing in the United States. Carty has been included every year since 2020.
The Irish Legal 100 has been published each October since 2008. This year’s honorees appear in the 2026 digital edition. Honorees are celebrated each fall at an invitation-only event at the residence of the Ambassador of Ireland to the United States in Washington, D.C.
Carty has litigated cases for more than 30 years. He started his career as a judge advocate in the U.S. Air Force, serving four years, including an assignment at Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio, Texas. He then spent decades representing large companies in complex commercial and appellate litigation and co-chaired the national appellate practice at Seyfarth Shaw LLP.
In January 2025, Carty and founding partner Kip Brar opened Suits & Boots Injury Lawyers in Houston. The firm represents people hurt in car, truck and motorcycle crashes, as well as workers injured offshore and in refineries, on platforms and in oilfields. Carty also oversees the business side of the firm, including hiring, technology and client service.
“I spent a long time on the other side of the table, watching how big companies and their insurers size up a claim,” Carty said. “Now I get to use that for one person at a time. The work is just as demanding, but it’s a lot more personal.”
That defense background shapes how the firm handles cases. Carty and Brar keep the legal team small, bring in experts for the specific question each case raises and prepare every matter as if it will go to trial.
“I’m grateful to the Irish Legal 100 for including me again,” Carty said. “Recognition like this means the most when it reflects the work we do for our clients every day.”
Carty is also known for his work on legal writing. He has served on critical-reading panels for Black’s Law Dictionary and Garner’s Modern American Usage and has sat on the Board of Advisers of the Academy of American Legal Writers. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, nine federal courts of appeals, and all Texas state courts.
A Houston resident and graduate of Westfield High School, Carty earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, a law degree and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin. Outside the office, he spends his time on woodworking, music, amateur radio and working on cars.
