GREENVLOT and Cyberport Launch the Greenvlot Energy-Compute Asset Alliance, China's New Energy Going Global Enters a New Era of Collaboration

Oct 19, 2026

-- On October 15,2026, During the Future Industries Zone at the 2026 Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) — a zone jointly organised by the Hong Kong Electronic Industries Association and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council — Sara Xiao, Chairman & CEO, GREENVLOT Group, spoke to the Hong Kong Economic Herald in an exclusive interview about how expanding AI computing power is reshaping global energy infrastructure, the path for Chinese new energy companies going global, and Hong Kong's role in global new energy and computing.

Centred on its intelligent new energy asset management platform, GREENVLOT has partnered with Cyberport to launch the Greenvlot Energy-Compute Asset Alliance (Green Energy Going Global Alliance). Built on industrial foundations with Hong Kong as its international pivot, the Alliance offers members three collaborative engines: finance, innovation and technology, and branding. Positioned as a collaboration platform for China's new energy industry moving from product exports to industrial collaborative expansion and asset deployment, it brings together Chinese industry players' capabilities for coordinated global expansion, to meet upgrading needs in global computing infrastructure.

AI Computing Expansion Reshapes the Energy Landscape as New Energy Moves from Generation Assets to Industrial Infrastructure

Rapid growth in the global AI industry is making power supply a core bottleneck for computing capacity deployment. Industry data shows that electricity consumption by data centres and digital infrastructure is rising sharply. A single AI data centre's load has risen from tens of megawatts (MW) to hundreds of MW, with some planned projects at gigawatt (GW) scale. By 2030, AI is expected to drive global data centre electricity demand up by more than 50%.

In Sara Xiao's view, competition in computing power is, in essence, becoming a competition in energy infrastructure. "What the global market truly lacks is not ordinary electricity, but stable, low-cost, low-carbon power of high quality that can be connected quickly," she said. New energy projects are shifting fundamentally in positioning — from conventional "generation assets" to "industrial infrastructure" supporting the digital economy. This brings new global expansion opportunities for China's new energy industry, which has advantages in production capacity and technology.

Breaking Traditional Industry Boundaries with a Full-Lifecycle Asset Management Platform

Unlike conventional equipment manufacturers or asset traders, GREENVLOT positions itself as an intelligent new energy asset management platform, building capabilities around the full asset lifecycle and forming an integrated closed loop of asset development, asset operations and AI solutions.

GREENVLOT operates a dual-platform model: its Shenzhen Qianhai platform leads project selection, development, construction and operations, providing the real-world asset base. Its Hong Kong platform at Cyberport focuses on R&D innovation, commercialisation and capital coordination.

According to the company, GREENVLOT has built a pipeline in Mainland China of approximately 7.6GWh of independent energy storage projects, including more than 4GWh of S-grade projects. In 2026, projects totalling 1.6GWh in Weifang and Weihai, Shandong Province, commenced construction in phases, providing solid real-world scenarios for technology and business model validation.

"We develop and build our own assets rather than simply trading them in the secondary market," Sara Xiao emphasised. "Real assets are the platform's core foundation. Although we operate as a platform, our underlying assets are real, tangible projects."

From Going It Alone to Going Global Together: An Alliance Model Tackling Industry Pain Points

Addressing the common difficulties Chinese new energy companies face going global, Sara Xiao said frankly that a single company going overseas can often only export products, while global competition has long since escalated into competition in overall organisational and collaborative capability. On this judgment, the Green Energy Going Global Alliance was initiated, integrating capabilities across the industry chain's upstream and downstream for coordinated overseas expansion.

According to the company, the Alliance brings together strengths in equipment manufacturing, technology R&D, engineering and construction, and financial services. Its members include leading equipment manufacturers such as HyperStrong, and technology companies in power conversion (PCS), energy management (EMS) and battery management (BMS).

Sara Xiao compared the Alliance to "a ship setting sail": "What the ship carries is the capability of the entire industry chain. Leveraging the boom in global computing power, and with energy storage as the foundation, we aim to bring China's supply chains and technologies to the world."

Financing is a common weak link for Chinese companies going global. Sara Xiao said that, drawing on the ecosystem advantages of Hong Kong, Singapore and other Asian financial centres, GREENVLOT can build sustainable financing structures for overseas projects — first addressing companies' immediate financing needs, then integrating resources to work with partners on overseas expansion.

Hong Kong as a Strategic Hub for R&D Innovation and Global Connectivity

For Sara Xiao, Hong Kong as the Alliance's starting point reflects a clear strategic logic. Beyond being an international financial centre, Hong Kong is a key node connecting global research, talent, capital and markets, offering irreplaceable value to new energy companies as a "super connector".

GREENVLOT has established an industry–university–research collaboration framework in Hong Kong, working with local universities and research institutes on long-term partnerships in storage dispatch optimisation, intelligent management and IoT data collection. Postdoctoral programmes and joint R&D platforms advance the commercialisation of research outcomes.

"Technologies already developed on the Mainland will undergo further R&D and refinement in Hong Kong before being commercialised in global markets," Sara Xiao explained.

Driven by the HKSAR Government's Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Development Blueprint and the Northern Metropolis development, a closed-loop industrial ecosystem is taking shape at an accelerating pace — linking R&D in Hetao, commercialisation in San Tin, manufacturing in the Greater Bay Area and global sales.

In Sara Xiao's view, Hong Kong, with a buyer network and international financial system spanning more than 140 countries and regions, can help Chinese new energy companies complete the critical leap from real-world validation to global expansion.

2027: A Key Milestone as the Collaborative Ecosystem Embraces the Global Market

On the industry outlook, Sara Xiao judged clearly: 2027 will see a concentrated release of global electricity demand and the peak shipping period for China's new energy manufacturing industry. As power supply capacity gradually keeps pace with computing capacity build-out, the computing industry is also expected to enter a phase of rapid global expansion in 2027.

"In this industry, there are no absolute competitors, only potential partners," Sara Xiao said, inviting global industry players to join the Alliance. Both established industry leaders and growth-stage technology companies can join, drawing on a shared pool of overseas projects and capital.

GREENVLOT was recognised at this exhibition as a "Star of Future Industries · Leading Enterprise" in the 2026 Future Industries Tech Top100, and its development path is also a microcosm of the upgrading of China's new energy industry: from exporting single products to exporting full industry-chain capabilities, and from single-company breakthroughs to building a collaborative ecosystem. Hong Kong is becoming a core strategic hub in the globalisation of China's new energy industry.
